Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Senior Principal/Principal to oversee geotechnical projects in the transportation sector across the northern Mid-Atlantic region. You will provide strategic leadership, final technical reviews, and mentorship to Senior Project Managers and Associate Principals.

The role emphasizes client interaction, business development, and adherence to ECS safety policies. A PE or PG license and extensive geotechnical experience are required.

Qualifications

• 12 years of related experience
• Designations as Associate Principal or Board of Directors exception
• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar
• A PE or PG license in each state of work
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS
• Demonstrate technical excellence, leadership, safety, and professionalism
• Strong project management, communication, risk management, and technical knowledge
• History of business development performance
• Proficiency with geotechnical software for slopes, deep and shallow foundations
• Ability to provide final technical review for reports with supporting calculations
• Knowledge of transportation sector in MD, WV, PA, NJ
• Experience with procurement and standards of transportation agencies in those states
• Knowledge of regional geologic/geotechnical challenges
• Proficiency in geotechnical principles for various projects
• Professional training per ECS Senior Technical Staff Policies

Responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical projects in the transportation sector (highway, bridge, rail)
• Provide technical leadership and final project reviews
• Mentor Associate Principals and staff
• Assist with staff staffing decisions and hiring
• Lead and participate in project meetings with clients
• Support business development and client interactions
• Review and sign contracts and proposals per policy
• Lead weekly meetings with senior project managers
• Ensure safety policies are followed
• Manage department P&L and proposals
• Supervise and coach junior staff
• Provide backstop for technical accuracy and timeliness
