Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead high‑performing teams and cultivate deep client relationships in Northern California. The role supports leadership succession and expands government and transportation client relationships.

The position is full‑time and based in Walnut Creek or San Jose, CA, with travel as needed to pursue new opportunities and oversee complex dam/levee and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• 20+ years of strategic geotechnical engineering consulting experience, with 10+ years in the San Francisco Bay Area.
• California Professional Engineer (PE) and Geotechnical Engineer (GE) registrations.
• Proven ability to lead high‑revenue projects and client portfolios, with strong BD skills.
• Proven track record of achieving at least $1.5 million in annual net revenue from consulting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the company’s portfolio by developing and maintaining strategic client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and driving significant revenue growth.
• Oversee large, complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring technical excellence, budget adherence, and client satisfaction.
• Build and guide high‑performing teams, mentoring staff and promoting staff development during project execution.
• Contribute to long‑term strategy by identifying new markets, services, and technologies, and leading high‑impact proposals.
• Ensure work complies with Health & Safety protocols and foundational safety behaviors.
