Job summary

ECS Southeast, LLP is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead our transportation team in the Southeast. You will guide a multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists as the region's technical authority, overseeing geotechnical reports and design packages with an emphasis on DOT and AASHTO standards.

You will mentor junior staff, drive project execution for slope stability and deep foundations, and help expand our transportation portfolio through client engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of geotechnical and transportation engineering experience.
• PE license is required; PG may be acceptable depending on state requirements.
• Expertise in DOT GDM and AASHTO LRFD specifications.
• Proficiency in Civil infrastructure design software (MicroStation/OpenRoads).
• Proven track record as a senior technical reviewer on transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as final technical reviewer for geotechnical reports and designs.
• Oversee geotechnical reports and design packages with Engineering of Record seals.
• Provide cross‑regional technical guidance to staff and DOT projects.
• Mentor engineers, technicians, and project managers for growth.
• Lead complex designs in slope stability, foundations, retaining structures, and settlements.
• Direct field exploration activities and client meetings for growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify future leadership candidates.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
