Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate Front End Design Systems in Plano, TX, a hybrid role focusing on building reusable component libraries and design system tooling. You will partner with product, design, and other engineers to translate complex UI/UX into robust solutions while upholding accessibility standards and code quality.

You will mentor peers, drive adoption of the design system, and influence roadmap decisions to deliver scalable, high-quality user interfaces at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional frontend development experience.
• 3+ years with modern frontend technologies (TypeScript, JavaScript).
• 2+ years with React, Vue, or Angular.
• Strong CSS for responsive layouts and scalable styles.
• Semantics and accessibility aligned with WCAG standards.
• Experience translating designs into modular components.
• Experience with frontend build tooling (webpack, Vite, Rollup).
• Experience consuming REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Experience in Agile/Kanban environments.
• At least 1 year contributing to a design system.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS/Azure/Google).
• Performance optimization and bundle analysis skills.
• Familiarity with native mobile development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build clean, scalable, high-performance UI components for core libraries.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to turn UI/UX designs into solutions.
• Drive automated tests, code reviews, and ensure pixel-perfect components.
• Champion accessibility and ensure components meet WCAG requirements.
• Mentor engineers and promote modern engineering best practices.
• Drive adoption of the design system across product teams and gather feedback.
