Job summary

Analog Photonics LLC. is seeking a hands-on technical lead to architect, implement, verify, and bring up FPGA-based embedded control and DSP systems for LiDAR applications.

You will develop self-checking testbenches, simulations, and regression tests, troubleshoot issues, and prepare detailed design documentation. You should have 10+ years in FPGA development, SystemVerilog RTL, Vivado/Vitis with UltraScale+ devices, and strong hardware/software co-design skills.

Qualifications

Job description

Analog Photonics is seeking a self-starting and experienced individual to be a hands-on technical lead and individual contributor responsible for the architecture, implementation, verification, and bring-up of FPGA-based embedded control and signal processing systems for LiDAR applications.

• Architecture, design, and implementation of FPGA-based control and digital signal processing systems
• Development of self-checking unit- and system-level testbenches, simulations, and regression tests
• Troubleshooting and resolving design issues
• Preparation of detailed design documentation of the FPGA designs, implementations, register maps, and user guides
• Independently plan and prioritize work, communicate status and technical risks, participate in design and code reviews, and drive development activities to completion within aggressive project timelines

Qualifications

The position requires RTL design, simulation, and implementation experience in SystemVerilog of FPGA embedded control and signal processing. The following skillsets are also required:

• Mastery of FPGA design using Vivado in both Tcl-scripted and GUI-based development flows
• Experience with full development cycle of FPGA design and recent experience with Xilinx/AMD UltraScale+ devices
• Expertise in timing constraints, timing closure, and clock domain crossings
• Understanding of digital signal processing hardware architectures
• Experience using Vitis for embedded software development and FPGA SoC integration
• Experience with FPGA IP Core integration, preferably DDR memory interfaces, SPI, AXI/AXI-4 Stream, DMA, and 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet
• Familiarity with digital electronics hardware design
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction, with experience developing Xilinx/AMD SoC-based systems and performing FPGA/embedded processor hardware-software co-design
• Excellent verbal and written skills to interact with design teams, management and customers
• 10+ years of relevant FPGA development experience providing technical leadership on complex FPGA designs
• A bachelor's degree in EE/CE/ECE is required; master's degree preferred

The Following Skillsets Are Desired

• Experience with radar, LiDAR, or laser systems
• Experience controlling ADCs, DACs, and other custom peripheral controls
• Experience with Versal devices
• Bringing up RTOS on an FPGA SoC (e.g., FreeRTOS)
• Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal sources, power supplies
• Use of Git or similar tools for codebase revision control in team environment
• Experience with Hardware design, PCB design, fabrication, and testing
• MATLAB/Simulink/Python modeling of signal processing systems, at a minimum able to understand a high-level model and convert to an FPGA implementation
• High-level language programming in C, and ability to write simple embedded software modules for FPGA integration
• Experience with scripting languages (Tcl, Python, etc.)
