Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a highly skilled engineer to scale and align foundation models for autonomous vehicles. You will design data curation, pre-training, and fine-tuning recipes and build end-to-end training pipelines used by distributed teams.

The ideal candidate has advanced degrees and a track record delivering research to production, with PyTorch, Python, and big-data tools. You will mentor juniors and collaborate cross-functionally to elevate onboard driving safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS with robotics/ML focus required.
• Proven experience with large-scale Foundation Models and alignment methods.
• Proven production research experience under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with PyTorch and Python for model development.
• Experience building scalable, performant training pipelines for distributed teams.
• Strong data processing skills using NumPy, Pandas and Apache Spark.

Responsibilities

• Scale AV foundation model pre-training and fine-tuning with data across sources.
• Design and implement technologies aligned with GM's mission.
• Develop novel data curation and training recipes for AV models.
• Design, architect, and deploy data pipelines for curation and training.
• Apply unsupervised pre-training, imitation learning, RL, guidance and selection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align distillation recipes for onboard models.
• Conduct research and stay current with AI frameworks and libraries.
• Lead projects from ideation through deployment and document learnings.
• Mentor junior team members and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop ML models that improve safety, reliability, and scalability of autonomous vehicles.
