Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Principal Forensic Engineer to lead complex forensic engagements from field investigations and calculations to design review and expert testimony.

You will manage client relationships, serve as lead expert on litigation matters, and mentor junior and senior staff while expanding the firm’s forensic practice across Civil/Structural disciplines.

Qualifications

• Active, clean P.E. license in Florida (other active state licenses considered).
• Minimum 15 years of relevant design and/or forensic engineering experience.
• Demonstrated design experience within Civil or Structural disciplines.
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record on contract documents, plans, or specifications.
• Substantial deposition and litigation support experience, including serving as a testifying expert.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage engagements from proposal through completion, including scope, schedule, and budget.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience liaising directly with clients, attorneys, and contractors.
• Willingness to travel within-state, with potential for regional travel.
• Extensive forensic engineering experience, particularly involving property loss or similar evaluations.
• Established reputation as a lead expert/consultant within the industry.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis and building code requirements.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior and senior engineering staff.

Responsibilities

Ideal candidates will be seasoned forensic engineering experts with a strong track record in construction defect investigations, litigation support, and expert testimony.

Role Overview

The Principal Forensic Engineer will lead complex forensic engineering engagements end-to-end, including field investigations, engineering calculations, design and document review, observation of destructive testing, and evaluation of construction drawings and specifications. This role carries primary responsibility for client relationships, serves as lead expert on litigation matters, and includes mentoring and oversight of junior and senior engineering staff.
