Principal Firmware Engineer R&D - Innovative Medical Device Start-Up

Location: Twin Cities
Compensation: Up to $190k base

Position: Principal Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the firmware development for an innovative class III medical device, ensuring it meets all regulatory and performance standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and clinical researchers, to drive the product from concept through to clinical trials and product launch.
  • Develop and optimize firmware for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication to ensure seamless connectivity and data transfer.
  • Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect device integrity.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and debugging to ensure firmware reliability and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in firmware development, with a preference for medical device experience.
  • Proven expertise in developing firmware, with a strong understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, including ISO 13485 and IEC 62304
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.
  • Background in cybersecurity, with a focus on medical device security protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
