Job summary

Empire Partnership Ltd in the United Kingdom is recruiting for a Fire Risk Assessor to join a hybrid-location role with a national property consultancy. You will complete internal and external Fire Risk Assessments, both visual and intrusive, and advise clients on fire safety compliance for existing and new builds.

You will work with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and other clients, lead risk assessments, review information, produce detailed reports, and provide CPD to clients on

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree and professional membership (MIFSM or equivalent).
  • Evidence of civil/structural fire engineering knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience with fire safety compliance and regulatory guidance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete internal and external Fire Risk Assessments both visual and fully intrusive.
  • Advise clients on fire safety compliance within existing and new build schemes.
  • Assist the client in RAG assessing their stock to understand liabilities.
  • Review information relating to fire safety and advise on suitability.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments and compile detailed reports.
  • Provide CPD to clients about obligations as building owners.
  • Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers.
  • Work with project team to produce cost effective remedial solutions.
  • Attend client/resident meetings to explain reports and findings.
  • Work with project team to compile ERs.
  • Peer review contractors' proposals.
  • Liaise with clerk of works and contractor and perform compliance checks.
  • Attend site progress meetings as required.

Job description

Our client are a national property consultancy, their survey and passive fire protection remediation work is provided by dedicated professionals. Their contract administration team work with their own qualified fire engineers to remediate clients' buildings and ensure FRAEWs or EWS1 forms can be issued in accordance with regulatory requirements.

About the Role

Location: Hybrid

Complete internal and external Fire Risk Assessments both visual and fully intrusive. Advice clients on fire safety compliance within existing and new build schemes. Clients principally Local Authorities, Housing Associations and other Clients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete internal and external Fire Risk Assessments both visual and fully intrusive.
  • Advise clients on fire safety compliance within existing and new build schemes.
  • Assist the client in RAG assessing their stock to understand their potential liabilities.
  • Review information relating to fire safety that the client has accrued for their buildings to date and advise them of its suitability.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments both internally and externally inline with current industry guidance and compile a detailed report.
  • Provide CPD to clients making them aware of their obligations as building owners.
  • Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers where requested.
  • Work with the project team to produce cost effective, pragmatic remedial solutions where possible.
  • Attend client/resident meetings when required to explain reports that have been issued and the implications of the findings.
  • Work with the project team to compile the ER’s.
  • Peer review the contractors proposals.
  • Liaise closely with the clerk of works and the contractor and carry out compliance checks of the works as they progress.
  • Attend site progress meetings when required.

Qualifications

  • BEng / MEng or BSc in a relevant field of Engineering
  • MIFSM.
  • C Build E MCABE.
  • CEng / IEng (In progress)

Required Skills

  • Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works and other key stakeholders.
  • Undertake Risk Assessments in line with current legislation.
  • Advise clients of pragmatic, cost effective solutions to mitigate risk where possible.
  • Assist in the growth, development and structure of a small team, drawing upon team leadership skills and experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Comply with, or improve upon Key Performance Indicators.
  • Working with and developing a Quality Management System.
  • Report on a regular basis on status of projects and update Fee Projections.
  • Assist the Director in Charge with Business Development, cultivating new and existing Clients to promote our Building Surveying service offering.
