Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal IT Data Engineer to architect and scale data transformations and BI solutions. You will partner with Finance and Legal to deliver data-driven insights and robust governance across data pipelines and analytics.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross‑functional teams, mentorship, and adoption of GenAI and AI-powered approaches to improve reliability, performance, and decision making.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree and experience with Finance, Operations or Legal domains.
• Strong 5+ years of data engineering experience, building and maintaining data pipelines and analytical solutions.
• Expertise in SQL programming and database management systems.
• Hands‑on with SAP Data Objects and SFDC Data Objects.
• Hands‑on experience with ETL tools and technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Airflow.
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP) and services like Dataflow, DataProc, BigQuery, and Cloud Composer.
• Experience in AI tools and understanding of implementing AI in the development lifecycle is mandatory.
• Demonstrated readiness to leverage GenAI tools to enhance efficiency in the data engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines for ETL into data warehouses or lakes.
• Collaborate with Finance and Legal stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Optimize and tune data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement data quality and governance processes for accuracy and compliance.
• Work with BI teams to develop dashboards, reports, and analytical tools.
• Mentor junior team members on data engineering and BI best practices.
• Drive new processes to increase engineer productivity.
• Identify and guide adoption of emerging technologies (AI/ML, GenAI, cloud-native platforms).
