Job summary

Lincoln Memorial University is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant Didactic Faculty member to teach, evaluate, and mentor PA students across classroom and clinical settings in Harrogate, Tennessee.

The candidate will participate in admissions, program organization, and accreditation preparation, while supporting curriculum development and course assessment. Strong teaching skills and clinical experience required; doctoral degree preferred and NCCPA certification is essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program with NCCPA certification.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for Tennessee licensure.
  • Master's degree in physician assistant studies; doctoral degree in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PA didactic and clinical courses and mentor students.
  • Participate in admissions, program organization, evaluation, and accreditation readiness.
  • Assist in curriculum development, course scheduling, and student assessments.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, research, and grant development when possible.
  • Represent the program at meetings and maintain clinical site relationships.

Job Description

The Physician Assistant Program Didactic Faculty position will involve teaching, evaluation, advisement, and mentoring of physician assistant students in classroom, clinical, and other settings. Faculty members will participate in the admissions and selection process, in program organization, evaluation, planning, administration, and management, and will assist in continuous review and analysis of the programs effectiveness and in preparation for the program assessment by accreditation bodies and others.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited physician assistant training program and certification by NCCPA ; current licensure or eligibility for Tennessee licensure;

  • possession of a masters degree in physician assistant studies and actively engaged or willing to obtain a doctoral degree in a field related to medical science
  • Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience as a physician assistant.
  • Excellent oral, written, organizational, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a field related to medical science or education;
  • teaching experience in classroom and clinical settings, preferably in an institution of higher learning;
  • evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly activity.

Job Duty
  • Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large;
  • Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students;
  • Responsible for working with the Director of Didactic Education on curriculum-related tasks
  • Teaching, evaluation, advisement and mentoring of PA students
  • Participate in the admissions and selection process
  • Participate in program organization, evaluation, planning, administration and management as well as assist in continuous review and analysis of the program s effectiveness and preparation for program assessment by ARC -PA, LMU , SACSCOC , and others
  • Fulfill the University s scholarship expectation through research, publication, grant development, creative achievement, and other endeavors consistent with the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual;
  • Provide committee service and attend SMS , PA program, and LMU faculty meetings;
  • Develop course schedules, syllabi, and student evaluation mechanisms;
  • Serve as Course Director for Didactic Phase courses as assigned and complete End of Course reports for assigned courses and present conclusions based on data analysis and recommendations for action(s)/modification(s) to the Curriculum Committee.
  • Assist in revising the Student Handbook and the Student Catalog as assigned.
  • Assist in recruiting, developing, evaluating, and maintaining clinical sites and clinical preceptors for Clinical Phase Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPEs), as needed.
  • Assure availability of remedial instruction and participate in design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the PA program curriculum
  • Assist in the administration and evaluation of the PA program
  • Assist in the search process for selecting PA program faculty
  • Write, edit, review and approve learning objectives and test items
  • Perform service activities that advance the PA program, SMS , and the PA profession including assistance in the recruitment, orientation, and retention of PA students
  • Exhibit/recruit at various meetings as needed
  • Complete required institutional, program accreditation and other reports necessary for the advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites and
  • perform other duties as assigned.
