Job summary

Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tennessee, invites applications for the Professor of Pathology at LMU-DCOM. The successful candidate will teach general pathology, systemic pathology and histology while contributing to scholarly activity in alignment with LMU-DCOM curriculum and mission.

The role includes leading curriculum development, coordinating faculty, and ensuring compliance with SACS/COCA standards.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO or PhD with relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (MD/DO path).
  • Ability to obtain Tennessee licensure within first year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Teach general pathology, systemic pathology and histology per LMU-DCOM curriculum and contribute to scholarly activity.
  • Promote implementation of standards (SACS, COCA) in relevant programs.
  • Conduct departmental meetings and prepare annual department updates for catalog changes.
  • Coordinate curriculum changes, proposals and approvals at department and dean levels.
  • Prepare reports for Academic Council and monitor department Strategic Plan.

Job description

The Professor of Pathology for the DCOM shall have the primary responsibility for teaching general pathology, systemic pathology and histology in accordance with LMU - DCOM approved curriculum and for scholarly activity. They shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the School, and the Department.

Required Qualifications

MD or DO, must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, able to be licensed in Tennessee within the first-year of hire date by the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination/Tennessee Medical State Board; unrestricted Tennessee license; or a PhD in pathology with experience teaching histology and systemic pathology.

Oversee and manage the resources needed for departmental responsible courses;

Conduct orientation conferences for new full-time and adjunct faculty;

Monitor and support the transitions and progress of new and current faculty in the areas of academic preparedness, objective writing, lecture delivery, examination preparation, technology training, etc.;

Seek, arrange, and interview for open faculty/staff positions for the department;

Coordinate the process for annual evaluations for departmental faculty by assisting with completion of Faculty Evaluation Report and staff evaluations;
