Job summary

Khan Academy is seeking an experienced Experience Architect to unify the product ecosystem through information architecture and system patterns. You will partner with design leaders, PMs, and engineers to ensure architecture informs roadmaps and scales across districts and schools.

The role emphasizes strategic design leadership, hands-on prototyping when needed, and a deep commitment to the mission of providing free world-class education for everyone, anywhere.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in product design, UX architecture, or UX strategy.
• Ability to zoom out from features to whole-product ecosystems and translate into clear structures.
• Excellent visual, interaction, and structural design craft.
• Experience guiding designers, PMs, and engineers toward coherent decisions.
• Experience designing for environments with multiple user types and permissions.
• Strong storytelling to communicate architectural concepts to stakeholders.
• EdTech experience is a plus.
• Motivated by Khan Academy mission.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product interaction model and information architecture across Khan Academy products.
• Map and design journeys that span multiple products and user roles.
• Build artifacts: experience maps, service blueprints, architecture diagrams and design patterns.
• Act as a senior voice on the Design Leadership Team and align architectural decisions with user and district needs.
• Develop lightweight governance frameworks and coaching to align embedded designers with broader architecture.
• Prototype or redesign critical cross-cutting flows when the problem is foundational and requires hands-on work.
