Collins Aerospace is looking for a Principal Equipment Engineer who will support build-to-print and supplier-designed engineering for mechanical Equipment Systems for Nacelle development and legacy programs. You will be responsible for driving the technical direction and project progression of assigned components. You will work with global program/engineering teams, as well as external suppliers and customers. You will need to be knowledgeable of supplier equipment, stress, and engineering development process.

What You Will Do
  • Act as project manager accountable for assigned mechanical equipment components throughout the product life cycle, from development through production support.
  • Accountable for the on‑time delivery of quality products and documentation Establish and mature relationships with global engineering teams, suppliers and customers.
  • Resolve technical issues by working with key stakeholders Serve as a primary point of contact for cross functional team and supply base for assigned components.
  • Support the requirements, design, and qualification of mechanical equipment components.
  • Facilitate and drive resolution of technical issues with Aerospace component design and performance.
  • Visit suppliers and customers as required for process improvements, product enhancements, or failure investigations.
  • Support Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) when failures occur.
  • Support the resolution of field issues, including linkage with Aftermarket for real‑time resolution, leading root cause investigations, and proposing solutions that bring resolution to recurring issues.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with design and qualification requirements for mechanical aircraft components.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations to senior level leadership.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with mechanical equipment design, supplier design, build-to-print hardware, or similar mechanism systems.
  • Experience with RTCA DO-160 testing
  • Understanding of LEAN/Continuous Improvement a plus
  • Experience with DFMEA per AS9145
  • Microsoft office suite
  • Experience with Catia V5
  • Ability to be creative, analytical, a self-starter, energetic, and work well in a team environment at all levels of the organization
  • Able to communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
