Qualifications

Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Epic Healthcare Analytics Consultant to support Epic-centered data architecture, enterprise reporting, healthcare analytics, and data-driven decision-making initiatives.

The consultant will work closely with clinical, operational, financial, and IT stakeholders to design and deliver production-ready analytics solutions, resolve complex data and reporting challenges, mentor internal analysts, and contribute to the development of a scalable future-state healthcare data platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Epic analytics, healthcare data models, SQL, BI reporting, and enterprise healthcare data environments, along with the ability to translate complex business requirements into reliable technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing Epic data architecture, reporting pipelines, analytics workflows, and data processes to identify gaps and optimization opportunities.
• Design and implement scalable data models and BI solutions supporting enterprise reporting, operational analytics, and population health initiatives.
• Perform root-cause analysis for data quality issues, reporting discrepancies, integration challenges, and pipeline failures.
• Translate clinical, operational, financial, and executive requirements into validated analytics solutions.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of future-state healthcare intelligence platforms, including Microsoft Fabric or comparable modern data-stack technologies.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, and technical discovery meetings.
• Manage analytics requests through Jira, including requirements, estimation, prioritization, tracking, and delivery.
• Develop and maintain production-ready reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions using Epic Chronicle, Clarity, and Caboodle.
• Work extensively with Power BI, SSRS, Reporting Workbench, and SlicerDicer.
• Support integration of non-Epic data sources through Microsoft Fabric, REST APIs, and other enterprise integration technologies.
• Maintain report specifications, data lineage, data dictionaries, technical documentation, and solution documentation.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to internal analysts and reporting teams.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve analytics delivery efficiency.
• Collaborate with DataOps and IT teams to support version control, peer review, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Support post-go-live Epic analytics activities and troubleshoot complex reporting issues in a production environment.

Required Qualifications

• 7–10 years of progressive experience in healthcare data analytics, business intelligence, or healthcare data engineering.
• Proven experience owning or contributing to enterprise BI, healthcare analytics, or data-platform initiatives.
• Strong experience with healthcare data architecture, data modeling, reporting, and analytics.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis and root-cause investigation.
• Experience translating business and clinical requirements into validated analytics deliverables.
• Experience designing or contributing to healthcare data warehouse, lakehouse, or enterprise analytics architecture.
• Strong understanding of healthcare operations and analytics, including:

• Excellent communication skills with technical teams, business stakeholders, clinicians, and executive leadership.
• Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent analytics requests and priorities.

Technical Requirements

• Expert‑level SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, data transformations, and performance optimization.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI and SSRS.
• Direct hands‑on experience with Epic Chronicle, Clarity, and Caboodle.
• Strong understanding of Epic reporting and analytics tools, including Reporting Workbench and SlicerDicer.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and REST API‑based data integration.
• Experience working in Agile environments using Jira, sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative delivery.
• Experience with healthcare data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting workflows.

• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level analysts.
• Experience supporting Epic analytics in a live post-go-live environment.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare data privacy, security, and enterprise data architecture.

Engagement Expectations

• Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
• Remote work with onsite presence 3–5 days per month at the client location in San Francisco, CA.
• Follow established DataOps standards, including version control, peer review, testing, and technical documentation.
• Participate regularly in knowledge‑transfer and collaboration sessions.
• Meet sprint commitments and proactively communicate project risks, dependencies, and delivery concerns.
• Maintain high standards of data accuracy, reporting quality, and documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with HIPAA and applicable healthcare data governance and privacy requirements.
