Nokia in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Principal Engineer to lead photonic test and burn-in strategies for high-volume PIC manufacturing. You will drive capacity planning, equipment development, and cross-functional interfaces to ensure high efficiency and scalable testing architectures.

The role demands 10+ years in semiconductor laser testing, strong leadership, and global operations experience with CM partners, shaping long-term resource plans for demanding production schedules and NPI coverage.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years in high-volume semiconductor laser manufacturing, testing, and reliability.
• Global Operations experience with CM partners.
• 5+ years of engineering management or technical project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own PIC test and BI capacity planning; develop scalable manufacturing strategies for internal facilities and external CM partners.
• Support new test and BI equipment design from early phases; champion DFM across quality, scalability, maintainability, and cost.
• Drive continuous improvement in yields, cycle times, and capital expenditures.
• Develop and manage relationships with equipment vendors and contractors throughout development and capacity ramp cycles.
• Lead projects with external CM partners to co-develop and transfer test and BI equipment, overseeing deployment at CM sites.
• Act as the primary technical bridge between Nokia Operations, R&D, and CM partners to resolve volume production issues.
• Define long-term resource strategies to optimize internal operations for production schedules and NPI coverage.
