Target is seeking a Principal Engineer to set the strategy for software development and infrastructure across multiple portfolios, guiding design, development, and operation across teams. You’ll mentor engineers and drive adoption of agile and DevOps practices while aligning technical work with business goals.

In this role you will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to set direction, lead high‑performing teams, and communicate complex technical decisions across the organization.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 12+ years of technology development or services experience.
• 4+ years of strategic planning and setting technical direction.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to influence across teams.
• Deep understanding of systems programming and multiple tech domains.
• Experience in Java/J2EE, SQL/No-SQL, Python, Ruby, and cloud/DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Set strategy for software development and infrastructure across multiple portfolios.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams; drive adoption of DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to set technical direction.
• Oversee design and implementation of the Target platform API with non-functional requirements.
• Manage procurement specs, installation, and maintenance of Target systems.
