Job summary

Google is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Nexus Capacity Engineering to pioneer the architectural path for planet-scale capacity delivery. You will guide a high-impact full-stack team and influence across Hardware, Software, Supply Chain, and Product Management to optimize data-center capacity with ML, AI, and operations research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience delivering large-scale capacity planning, IaaS/PaaS solutions, or fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and evolution of global fleet planning with a multi-year roadmap to deliver 10x more capacity using ML, compute and storage resources.
  • Partner across AI & Infrastructure to define a unified capacity management product suite for AI training and inference.
  • Integrate AI/ML, operations research, and optimization into capacity planning workflows to improve utilization.

Job description

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience delivering large-scale capacity planning, IaaS/PaaS solutions, or fleet management systems.
Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a field related (e.g., Networking or Security Systems).
  • Experience architecting, leading, and delivering large-scale transformations from concept to deployment.
  • Deep understanding of modern AI/ML infrastructure demands (TPU/GPU topologies, accelerators) with the ability to integrate AI-driven solutions.
  • Deep understanding of the latest AI and ML capabilities with a proven ability to upskill teams and integrate AI-driven solutions to improve large-scale systems.
  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority, building strong cross-organizational relationships across disparate teams (e.g., Hardware, Software, Supply Chain, and Product Management).
