Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a diligent and proactive individual with a high-quality work ethic to fill the position of Principal Engineer - Mechanical to support the readiness and sustainment of the United States Air Force (USAF) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Weapon System (WS). The individual must hold a valid Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university.

The overarching role of this position is to work closely with the customer, the United States Air Force (USAF), to apply engineering principles and best practices to optimize Weapon System operational service and performance.

The candidate selected for this position will be able to:

  1. Work with a multi-discipline engineering team to perform systems engineering
  2. Prepare and peer review engineering documents such as engineering drawings, technical memos, white papers, specifications, business case analyses, root cause analyses, Technical Order (TO) procedures, Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs)
  3. Manage work to meet program schedules
  4. Perform and peer-review mechanical engineering analyses for weapon system replacements and upgrade systems
  5. Be familiar with hardness critical items and nuclear hardness requirements
  6. Conduct inspections of proposed replacement sub-systems and components, making recommendations concerning any needed modifications
  7. Identify alternatives to current sub-system components and hardware, and assess potential impacts to the system if incorporated
  8. Be familiar with and comply with ICBM Operational Instructions (OIs) and Handbooks
  9. Possess familiarity with systems engineering principles, physical design, engineering testing, failure analysis, integration, and product qualification support
  10. Apply principles of mechanics of materials, heat transfer, thermodynamics, dynamics, materials selection, machine design, fluid mechanics, mechanical vibration, and statistics
  11. Have a strong background in organizing and handling large amounts of data
  12. Lead Integrated Product Teams (IPT) comprising engineers, logisticians, technical content managers, and program managers, and communicate effectively within the team
  13. Possess solid written and verbal communication skills
  14. Consider the warfighter and safety in all aspects of work and engineering efforts

Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $94,728 - $161,038

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
