Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer 3 to support the San Diego production organization. The role focuses on designing processes for Electro-Mechanical assemblies, interpreting engineering drawings, and guiding tooling and equipment selections.

You will work with production, quality, and design engineering to ensure manufacturability, safety, and regulatory compliance while applying Lean techniques and continuous improvement. U.S.

Qualifications

  • BS in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical or related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience in computer assisted design software (SolidWorks/CATIA).
  • Experience drafting, maintaining, and modifying work instructions and/or process specifications.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands on experience in programing, sustaining, and troubleshooting Electronics Manufacturing Equipment.
  • Experience in Electro-Mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in dispositioning non conformances.
  • SAP (MRP) and Solumina or equivalent shop floor system experience.
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Designs manufacturing processes and procedures for Electro-Mechanical assemblies and production equipment.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specified procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment.
  • Inspects performance of equipment and tools to verify efficiency and initiates corrective action for quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
  • Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations.
  • Performs 6S support, tracks yield, scrap, and parts consumption.
  • Creates Work Plans for Electro-Mechanical products.
  • Works closely with production floor supervisor, quality, and design engineering on day-to-day activities.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and recommends manufacturability improvements.
  • Assists with On-the-Job Training of new personnel
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing techniques across the environment

What You'll Get To Do
  • Designs manufacturing processes and procedures for Electro-Mechanical assemblies and production equipment.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specified procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Performs 6S support, tracks yield, scrap, and parts consumption for assembly efforts.
  • Creates Work Plans for Electro-Mechanical products within shop floor control system.
  • Works closely with production floor supervisor, quality, and design engineering and supports day-to-day production activities.
  • Complete understanding of assembly level build hierarchy.
  • Understands and interprets engineering drawings and recommend design changes to ease product manufacturability
  • Assisting with On-the-Job Training of new personnel
  • Experience in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques across manufacturing environment

Basic Qualifications Manufacturing Engineer 3

  • Hands on experience in programing, sustaining, and troubleshooting Electronics Manufacturing Equipment (Reflow Oven, Pick and Place, Ribbon Bonding, and Airvac/Selective Solder)

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
