Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing process development and tooling with a skilled team.

You will drive DFM and CAPEX initiatives, interpret engineering drawings, and ensure quality while meeting schedules. A Secret clearance and US citizenship are required; relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with ≥5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, or Master’s with ≥3 years.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Ability to start work at 6:00am Monday through Friday.
• Ability to obtain a US Government Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop new manufacturing processes and tooling with a team of machinists, assembly mechanics, welders and engineers.
• Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan and verify equipment efficiency.
• Develop processes applicable to statistical process control.
• Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

What you will get to do:

• Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an excellent team of experienced machinists, assembly mechanics, welders and engineers.

• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

• Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.

• Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Basic Qualifications for the Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

• Bachelor’s in a with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master’s Degree with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

• Ability to start work at 6:00am Monday through Friday.

• Ability to obtain a US Government Secret clearance.

• US Citizenship required.

Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

• Bachelor’s with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master’s Degree discipline with 6 or more years of relevant work experience.

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

• Ability to start work at 6:00am Monday through Friday.

• Ability to obtain a US Government Secret clearance.

• US Citizenship required.

Preferred qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Engineer and Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

• Experience measuring and analyzing precision parts.

• Experience with selecting and managing Capital Equipment (CapEX) projects for machinery.

• Experience with incorporating design for manufacturability (DFM) best practices to reduce costs and improve efficiency during machining.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
