Job summary

Aristocrat is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical craft of our next‑generation gaming platform. This hands‑on role requires deep mastery and strong cross‑team influence to ensure high‑quality execution aligned with product needs.

You will guide design across graphics, networking, encryption, and hardware integration, mentor engineers, and promote a culture of quality and accountability while advancing AI‑driven development and tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
• Technical expert in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• 10+ years of commercial software engineering experience delivering large-scale libraries, platforms, or multi-threaded apps.
• Ability to design and architect initiatives independently.
• Deep expertise in multi-threading, eventing, IPC, concurrency, performance tuning, memory management.
• Strong OO design, architectural patterns, and engineering standards.
• Experience leading technical implementation across teams.
• Secure system design, networking, encryption, and hardware/software integration.
• Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and influencing standards.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and root-cause skills.
• Mentoring senior engineers and elevating technical capability.
• Ability to evaluate new technologies based on business needs.
• Promotes a culture of quality, accountability, and integrity.
• Strong communication and presence; able to influence without formal authority.
• Experience with CI and automated testing practices.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve efficiency and quality.
• Awareness and responsible adoption of AI in engineering workflows.
• Casino gaming or related experience.
• Windows or Linux embedded OS experience; cross-platform development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, high-performance platform features.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, ensuring architectural alignment.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring, and quality standards.
• Work across a broad range of technologies including graphics, networking, encryption, hardware integration, drivers, and SDKs.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and practices to improve scalability, reliability, and productivity.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk across initiatives.
• Analyze and debug issues; champion AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery.
• Establish guidelines for AI-assisted code contributions and ensure security/compliance.
