Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking a Principal Engineer in Chicago with 10–25 years of design and field experience to lead field investigations, analyses, and design for high-performance building projects.

The role involves interacting with clients and project teams, conducting forensic investigations, and supporting expert witness services while building a local book of business to grow SOCOTEC's Chicago office.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree; Master’s preferred.
• Professional licensure/registration for the state of IL required.
• Experience with AutoCAD and computer aided analysis/design of structures; BIM a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
• Some travel to attend site meetings and perform investigations.
• Candidate should be able to bring a book of work and clients to SOCOTEC and help grow the Chicago office.
• Service sectors include Infrastructure, Transportation, Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Structural Dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations, analysis and design.
• Interact with clients and other design and construction professionals.
• Conduct forensic investigations and litigation support for expert witness services.
• Able to perform business development tasks and develop a book of business.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
