Job summary

HARMAN is seeking a Principal Engineer - AI to drive enterprise-grade AI foundations across IT/Digital, R&D, and engineering platforms in Novi, MI. You will help define agentic AI architectures, enable connected toolchains, and deliver AI-enabled engineering analytics end-to-end.

You will mentor teams on practical AI patterns, toolchains, and governance while partnering with R&D and platform owners to embed AI across requirements, ALM/PLM, and engineering data workflows.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in software/data AI, enterprise architecture, or digital transformation with production AI/Generative AI in automotive contexts.
• Strong understanding of R&D/engineering processes across embedded systems, software, and hardware domains.
• Hands-on with AI engineering toolchains, AI-assisted coding, and enterprise integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver scalable AI foundations and agentic architectures for IT/Digital enablement of R&D.
• Architect AI capabilities across lifecycle: requirements, architecture support, test quality, and compliance.
• Design reusable AI patterns for automation, knowledge discovery, and engineering analytics.
• Develop end-to-end agentic AI systems including memory, orchestration, and secure integration.
• Establish LLM governance, prompt/version control, and cost‑control mechanisms.
• Mentor engineers on responsible AI adoption and practical use of AI toolchains.
