We are looking for a Principal Engineer Electronics – Manufacturing Engineering (Advanced EO) to work on‑site in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role focuses on supporting software efforts associated with testing Electro‑Optical Infrared (EOIR) production hardware in a dynamic, fast‑paced, and technically challenging production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Test Station Development: Lead and support Non‑Recurring (NRE) test station development for EOIR products, including requirements reviews, equipment selection and procurement, drawings, station build, validation, and development testing.
  • Design Feedback: Identify design improvements for manufacturability to reduce assembly complexity and costs; engage with Design Engineering to incorporate changes.
  • Support to Production: Coordinate with Design Engineering, Production Technician, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Quality organizations to test EOIR products and provide solutions to support nonconformance repair procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review quality metrics to identify and lead efforts needed to implement continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, cycle time, and defects.
  • Project Management: Lead and report day‑to‑day test engineering efforts, provide executive‑level presentations on current project status or plans to resolve production issues, and perform earned‑value analysis on non‑recurring activities.

This position is full‑time, on‑site at our Rolling Meadows, IL location and requires a U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance plus any additional customer‑specified clearance before the start date.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in equivalent fields with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience managing small to medium‑scale projects or leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Secret Clearance with additional customer‑specified clearance prior to start.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience in electronic hardware manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with EOIR test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, collimators, black bodies, target wheels, power meters, etc.
  • Experience with EOIR tests such as Modular Transfer Function (MTF) measurements, Non‑Uniformity Correction (NUC), Noise‑Equivalent Irradiance (NEI), operability, and motion control.
  • Experience in creating test procedures or improving manufacturing processes.
  • Experience performing earned‑value/Cost‑and‑Schedule Monitoring (CAM) efforts.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in capital project management.
  • Experience with manufacturing software planning tools such as SAP.
  • Experience in facilities planning.
  • Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action methods.

Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 – $163,200.00. Base pay may be supplemented with overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for eligible positions.
