Job summary

Google’s Content and Generative AI Exploration team seeks a Principal Engineer to advance the Central Search Content Platform with AI-generated content.

Lead horizontal content understanding platforms leveraging GenAI, shaping the user journey and multi-modal insights across Google surfaces. This role focuses on GenAI experiences and driving the Search Content Platform’s evolution at scale.

Qualifications

• 15 years of software engineering experience
• 10 years of experience in developing and deploying models with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX)
• Master's degree or PhD in CS or related field (preferred)
• Development experience with AI-centered product features and leadership of a user-facing product effort (preferred)
• Experience applying GenAI and ML approaches to real-world content problems (preferred)
• Excellent mathematical skills with knowledge of statistical methods (preferred)
• Ability to influence across cross-functional or matrixed teams to get things done (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Contribute significantly to Search’s strategic roadmap.
• Develop and deploy GenAI technology to empower Content understanding and AI Generated Content framework.
• Conduct applied research on new GenAI techniques to explore the new content experience and direction.
• Work with adjacent teams (Research, Search, Ads, etc.) to integrate new GenAI technology into our Content products and services.
• Contribute to the outlook and technical roadmap of Search Content Platform’s next generation.

About the job:

The Content and Generative AI Exploration team works on the Central Search Content Platform to enable broader Search’s experiences with AI generated content. As Principal Engineer, you will build horizontal content understanding leveraging AI technology, ensuring a consistent experience across Google surfaces. Furthermore, you will focus on the new GenAI experience and explore features or directions that will be essential to the user journey. You will transform the Search Content Platform to be the best knowledge resource with the ability to generate brand new multi-modality insights and empower the Search Product to be the world's most proactive, personal, and conversational knowledge companion.
