Job summary

Freshworks is seeking a Principal Engineer for Product & Application Security to define the long‑term security vision across the Freshworks product suite, including AI‑first platforms. You will mentor senior engineers, drive secure design, and partner with engineering and CISO leadership to elevate security as a strategic differentiator.

Responsibilities include leading cross‑product security strategy, secure SDLC, and threat modeling for high‑risk systems, with a focus on multi‑tenant SaaS

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering and/or security with hands-on ownership of application/product security for production SaaS at enterprise scale
• Principal-level IC whose technical vision shaped an engineering organization
• Deep experience securing multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platforms (AWS) with tenant isolation, authN/authZ, and API security
• Proven impact eliminating vulnerability classes and defining security frameworks and paved roads

Responsibilities

• Own multi-year technical vision and architecture strategy for product and application security across Freshworks products
• Define secure-by-design reference architectures and organization-wide standards
• Set strategic security agenda for AI-first platform and agentic workflows
• Lead threat modeling and security design reviews for critical systems across identity, integrations, and agent runtime
• Define organization-wide left-shift strategy embedding SAST/DAST/SCA/IaC scanning across CI/CD pipelines
• Oversee vulnerability management, incident response, and root-cause remediation
• Mentor Staff and Senior Staff engineers and influence leadership across engineering and security teams
