Job description

Principal Engineer

Principal Engineer leads high-complexity process development and industrialization activities—integrating lean methodologies, driving design-to-manufacturing alignment, managing BOM and master data readiness, and ensuring safe, compliant, and seamless transitions from product development to full manufacturing.


Responsibilities: Responsible for leading and monitoring the implementation of process development activities for high complexity projects, integrating lean manufacturing methodologies, completing Manufacturing BOMs, developing industrialization concepts and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success independently. Contributes to the development of industrialization concepts and product solutions aligned with target manufacturing objectives and fosters seamless integration between design and production processes. Initiates and oversees process technology development activities in the context of New Product Generation as well as product and solution technology roadmap. Prioritizes adherence to safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements, along with compliance with local laws and company policies, during the execution of highly complex processes and standards.


Candidate Profile: You’ve acquired 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/ Operations, Engineering, Industrial/Systems/Production/Cost Engineering, or related fields. Your skills include strong capabilities in Stakeholder Management and Change Management. You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, Electronics, Sciences, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Systems Engineering or equivalent. Lean Six Sigma or equivalent certification.

Work Arrangement

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations. This role is an onsite role.

Pay and Benefits

Philips Transparency Details: The pay range for this position in Fremont - South, CA is $130,620 to $150.000. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more.


Location and Relocation

US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa, now or in the future. Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to posted locations.
