Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Principal Energy Solutions Engineer in Kennett Square, PA, to act as an industry expert in energy system applications and help customers increase resiliency, reliability, and ESG alignment while reducing costs through DER deployments.

You will contribute engineering design and applications for energy systems, lead project reviews, and collaborate with partners to deliver turnkey energy solutions including solar, storage, CHP, and hydrogen initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field of study.
  • Experience with communicating across project stakeholders.
  • Experience with preliminary electrical design.

As Principal Energy Solutions Engineer , you will be a key part of part of Tangent Energy—a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Caterpillar and part of EPD’s growing Energy Services business—and will act as an industry expert in energy system applications to help customers increase their energy resiliency, reliability, and security while reducing cost, monetizing assets, and meeting their ESG goals through deployment of DERs. In addition, you will contribute and provide engineering design and applications for energy systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Demonstrate expert level understanding of energy and distributed energy resource project development.
  • Provide front‑end project engineering, including conceptual electrical design and detailed cost estimates utilizing Caterpillar Electric Power’s products and services (e.g., solar PV, energy storage, natural gas generation, combined heat and power, renewable fuels, and hydrogen solutions).
  • Provide design oversight including procurement and installation of turnkey energy solutions that incorporate controls, integrated switchgear, and any other balance of plant items.
  • Work with third party engineering firms and contractors for final design approvals.
  • Attend site walkthroughs with project stakeholders during the development, construction, and commissioning phases of a project lifecycle.
  • Lead stakeholder‑facing discussions and project reviews supporting sale of energy solutions and project execution.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
