Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement firmware for next-generation IoT sensors used in freight rail.
- Lead development of low-power management strategies to extend device lifespan in remote, battery-powered environments.
- Integrate and optimize wireless protocols such as LoRa and BLE for reliable, long-range, low-energy communication.
- Design filtering solutions to improve signal quality in noisy industrial settings.
- Define firmware architecture and system requirements in collaboration with hardware, software, and product teams.
- Establish best practices for firmware development, including code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Debug complex system-level issues and optimize performance across hardware and firmware interfaces.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and propose strategic advancements in IoT and sensor systems to influence the company’s technical roadmap.
Requirements include:
- 10+ years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems, especially IoT or sensors.
- Expertise in low-power management techniques, demonstrated through successful deployments.
- Proficiency with LoRa and BLE protocols, including customization and performance tuning.
- Experience with OTA updates in low-power embedded systems.
- Knowledge of Cellular CATM-1 and NB-IOT, including Nordic nrfConnect SDK.
- Strong RF skills, including antenna tuning and large-scale deployments.
- Deep understanding of vibration analysis and signal processing for predictive maintenance.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M platforms, with RTOS experience; Zephyr is a plus.
- Proven leadership in complex projects from concept to production.
- Strong debugging skills with tools like oscilloscopes and JTAG.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
