RTX Space and Air division in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join product development teams. You will design, develop, test software, and collaborate across disciplines in an agile setting while ensuring security requirements are met.

Applicants must have a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience, C/C++ and Python proficiency, and an active DoD Secret clearance. This onsite role offers relocation assistance and a path to advanced engineering contributions.

What You Will Do:

• Design, develop, and test software based on software trouble reports in an agile, collaborative environment, delivering builds
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills, the ability to thrive in small, empowered teams, and an intense desire to directly enable our customers' success
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency in complex environments
• Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications
• Participate in agile execution and continuous improvement
• Work collaboratively with multiple engineering disciplines to analyze, implement, and test system modification requests to the existing system baseline

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) AND a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with software development, test, and/or integration using C, C++
• Experience with Scripting languages like Python.
• Experience with System and Software blended skills including:: a) Optimization and Analysis b) System of Systems Resource Management c) Modeling and Simulation - kill chain analysis d) Tracking Software Integration, output analysis, and algorithm development
• Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Bench support, familiarity with platform engineering tools
• Clearly communicate plans, status, and issues to teammates and program leadership
• Ensure the successful integration of software components into delivered products
• Experience in Object Oriented and scripting languages
• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements
• Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to difficult technical problems
• Experience working in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Development environment; experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with developing, testing, and integrating software using C / C++ or modern software development language
