Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Software Engineer II with embedded development experience to join our Space and RF Sensors team in El Segundo, CA. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software for aerospace and defense applications, translating system requirements into robust software solutions.

You will collaborate with systems and hardware engineers, participate in code reviews, and ensure software quality and secure coding practices while contributing to mission-focused programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 2 years of software experience.
• Proficiency in C++, Java, or Python with strong debugging and testing skills.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years of relevant software experience.
• Experience in programming languages such as C++, Java, Python or similar.
• Experience with software testing and debugging tools.
• Experience using version control tools like Git.
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance as and when required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles and practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with software development life cycles, including Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Linux and/or real-time embedded systems such vxWorks or Integrity.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab and secure software development methodologies.
• Experience with unit test frameworks such as gTest/gMock.
• Experience leveraging Generative AI and Machine Learning to improve productivity, collaboration, and performance.
• Familiarity with gRPC and Protobufs.
• Familiarity with Open Systems Architectures and modular design principles.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
• Active U.S. government security clearance (if required for the role).
