Job summary

SiMa.ai in San Jose, CA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Embedded Linux to lead OS driver development, boot software, and Yocto-based builds for the MLSoC platform. The role requires 10+ years in embedded systems and strong C/C++.

You will work on Linux drivers for SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe, MIPI, Ethernet and eMMC, integrate IP blocks, and collaborate with silicon teams across geographies. On-site in San Jose, you will join a high-performance team.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in computer science with 10+ years of experience.
• Experience building firmware, boot code on high-performance 64-bit ARM processors.
• Hands-on experience developing drivers for SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe, MIPI, Ethernet, eMMC.
• Experience with silicon teams for pre-silicon verification, post-silicon bring-up and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Yocto/Debian and embedded RTOS (e.g. QNX).
• Docker and Hypervisor experience is highly desirable.
• Experience with OSS software frameworks.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Proven track record delivering complex software products.

Responsibilities

• Leverage IP SW from Synopsys and ARM and integrate into MLSoC SW environment
• Develop drivers for peripheral devices including Low and High speed interfaces for Linux
• Develop drivers and support for Docker and Hypervisor environments
• Test and verify Linux drivers and environment with Chip Virtualizers and Zebu emulators
• Hardware communication between multiple heterogeneous cores
• Configure Linux environments for different reference boards
• Modify and perform Yocto and eLxr/Debian builds for new functionality
• Provide SW to support HW MLSoC test validation team
