SiMa.ai in San Jose, CA, is seeking a hands-on Director of Embedded Software Engineering to lead the US SoC software team, own technical direction, and coordinate delivery with India and other global teams.

You will drive OS, boot software, device drivers, and embedded Linux applications, oversee pre/post-silicon activities, and build a high-performance team while reporting progress to executives. Salary ranges from $231,100 to $358,200, with equity and benefits.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in computer science, electrical engineering or related field with 15+ years in embedded software.
• 5+ years of people management experience and proven team-building ability.
• Hands-on with firmware, boot code and devices for Arm processors.
• Deep Linux kernel and driver experience (SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe, Ethernet).
• Experience with U-Boot, secure boot, and Yocto-based builds.

Responsibilities

• Own roadmap, schedule, quality and release of MLSoC SDK features for the US team.
• Lead architecture reviews, bring-up, and debug across U-Boot, Linux, and drivers.
• Define secure boot chain, key management and image signing strategies.
• Coordinate feature delivery with India and global teams, ensuring alignment.
• Manage pre- and post-silicon verification with silicon and hardware teams.
• Build and mentor a high-performance embedded software team in San Jose.
