Job summary

Mission Critical Group (MCG) seeks a Manager, Electrical Engineering to lead a team delivering design, development and implementation of electrical systems. You will oversee timelines, budgets and resources to ensure timely, cost-effective project completion, while ensuring safety standards and technical guidance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in electrical engineering design in marine, heavy industrial, or oil & gas sectors.
  • 5 years in electro-mechanical power system design including LV/MV distribution and MCCs.
  • 2 years leading and managing an engineering team.
  • Experience in oil & gas, marine, and energy industries.
  • Knowledge of 3D design tools and SAP/Oracle/AS400 ERP systems.
  • Familiar with UL standards (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845, UL-DLAH).
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineers and designers to define design techniques and processes for efficiency.
  • Serve as SME for electrical engineering consultative services, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Maintain department processes and enhance capabilities to maximize resources.
  • Improve efficiency and sustainability by cost reduction and process improvements.
  • Identify and implement advanced tools for engineering and manufacturing.
  • Manage manpower, resources and scheduling to meet client timelines.
  • Coordinate with Estimating to ensure accurate quotes and with Manufacturing to track progress.
  • Support budgeting for R&D focused on product simplification and standardization.

Job Description

The Manager,Electrical Engineering will lead and manage a team of electrical engineers and electrical designers in the design, development and implementation of electrical systems and equipment. This role will oversee project timelines,budgetsand resource allocation to ensuretimelyand cost-effective project completion. The EE Manager will also ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations andprovidetechnical guidance and foster a high-performing team environment.

Accountabilities

  • Assist Electrical Engineers and Designers in developing and adhering to design techniques and processes to boost project efficiency.
  • Serve as the lead subject matter expert for Electrical Engineering consultative services, focusing on material selection and design concepts thatmaintainproduct integrity,comply withindustry standards, and meet client specifications.
  • Maintain internal department processes, provide professionalexpertiseto aid team development, andoptimizedepartmental capabilities to maximize human capital resources,focusingon cycle time, quality, and value.
  • Improve Mission Critical Group’s reputation and sustainability by reducing operational costs and enhancing quality through the management and improvement of Electrical Engineering processes, leading to innovative products.
  • Identifyand implement advanced tools within the engineering and manufacturing departments to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Manage Electrical Engineeringmanpower, resources, and tools to meet clients' technical and scheduling needs.
  • Demonstrate leadership by coordinating with the Estimating Department to ensureaccuratequote execution and collaborating with Manufacturing Managers tomonitorproject progress and efficiency.
  • Work with the Estimating Department to ensureaccuratequotes and collaborate with Manufacturing Managers to oversee project progress and efficiency.
  • Recommend budget expenditures and appropriations for research and development, focusing on product simplification and standardization, cost reduction, and process improvement.
  • Coordinate with the Mechanical Engineering and Building Design Departments to share technical details, develop finalized designs, and ensure detailed and compliant designs are provided to clients and manufacturing.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge / Experience

  • 10+ yearsof electrical engineering design experience in the Marine, Heavy Industrial, and/or Oil & Gas industries
  • 5 yearsof experience in electro-mechanical power system design, including low voltage, medium voltage, power distribution and controls, and motor control centers
  • 2 yearsof experience leading and managing an engineering team
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering design, particularly in the oil and gas, marine, and energy sectors.
  • Knowledge of 3D Mechanical Design applications such as Pro E Wildfire, SolidWorks, AutodeskInventor. Proficient with Microsoft Office Business Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) as well as MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, AS400
  • KnowledgeableofUL Standards (UL‐1558, UL‐891, UL‐67, UL‐508, UL‐845and UL‐DLAH). Familiar with regional utility codes in Chicago, New York, California, etc.
  • Proficiencyin mechanical engineering software and tools.
  • Excellent project management abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and design principles.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and work under pressure in a demanding environment.
  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, a related field, or a Master of Business Administration
  • Mid- to upper-level management experience
