Consumers Energy in Jackson, MI is seeking a Principal Electric Engineer to lead designs for large, complex projects across distribution, generation, and storage systems. This role requires SME-level expertise and strong collaboration to drive safe, reliable operation.

The onsite position focuses on HVD line design and asset health, coordinating with Operations. Relocation support is available; candidates must be within commuting distance of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent plus PE license.
• 7+ years in advanced electrical engineering roles with increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, control, and implementation of electrical systems and products.
• Serve as primary client contact for electrical engineering project matters.
• Develop and approve specifications for electrical equipment and materials and provide cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and customer requirements across projects.
• Oversee installation, testing, documentation, and support activities.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and support technical deliverables.
