Job summary

Lvi-Associates is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and execution of large-scale hyperscale data center projects in Atlanta. The role requires serving as Engineer of Record and guiding multidisciplinary teams through the project lifecycle.

You will oversee electrical system design, perform power studies, and ensure construction documentation meets NEC/NFPA/IBC standards while collaborating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for hyperscale and mission-critical data center facilities.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical oversight on project deliverables.
• Design medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution, backup generation, and UPS systems.
• Perform and review power system studies (short-circuit, coordination, load flow, arc flash).
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, telecom, fire protection, and construction teams.
• Develop design criteria, specifications, drawings, reports, and construction docs.
• Support client meetings and provide technical leadership through design and construction.
• Participate in site visits, commissioning, and design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to QA initiatives.

Our client is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and execution of large-scale hyperscale data center projects. This individual will serve as a technical leader, oversee electrical system design, act as Engineer of Record, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for hyperscale and mission-critical data center facilities
• Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical oversight on project deliverables
• Design medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems, grounding, and related critical infrastructure
• Perform and review power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, load flow, and arc flash analyses
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, telecom, fire protection, and construction teams
• Develop design criteria, specifications, drawings, reports, and construction documentation
• Support client meetings and provide technical leadership throughout design and construction
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, commissioning activities, and design reviews
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to quality assurance initiatives across projects
• Stay current on emerging data center technologies, power infrastructure trends, and industry best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
• Extensive experience designing electrical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or other complex industrial infrastructure
• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, and applicable industry standards
• Experience with power system analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar platforms
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM coordination workflows
• Experience performing electrical system studies and developing construction documents
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to travel periodically to project sites and client locations
