Enercon Services, Inc. is seeking Principal Electrical Components Engineers to serve as SMEs for nuclear plant electrical components. The role can be based in any ENERCON office or remote anywhere in the United States.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate SME expertise in one or more areas, lead technical efforts, and mentor junior engineers on design, lifecycle, and modernization projects for critical electrical systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and PE license or ability to obtain.
  • 10+ years in power generation, utility, industrial, or nuclear electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated SME-level expertise in one or more listed components.
  • Experience with lifecycle management or reliability for electrical power components.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for electrical components and power distribution systems.
  • Perform system assessments, root cause analyses, and reliability improvements.
  • Engage clients as a trusted technical advisor and present solutions to leadership.
  • Mentor engineers and provide direction on complex projects.

Overview

ENERCON's Nuclear Services Group is seeking Principal Electrical Components Engineers to serve as recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME) supporting critical nuclear plant electrical components. This position can be based in any ENERCON office or remote within the United States.


Candidates are not expected to possess expertise in all components listed below; however, each candidate should demonstrate recognized subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas and serve as a technical leader within their specialty.



  • Emergency DC Power Systems (Batteries, Chargers, Inverters, UPS)

  • Transformers

  • Generators, Exciters, and Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR)

  • Medium Voltage Power Distribution (13.8 kV / 4.16 kV Switchgear)

  • Low Voltage Power Distribution (480V Switchgear and Distribution Systems)


Responsibilities

  • Electrical Components Engineering: Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise for assigned electrical component and/or power distribution systems. Support design modifications, equipment upgrades, lifecycle management, and modernization projects. Develop engineering evaluations, calculations, technical specifications, and engineering reports

  • System Assessment & Troubleshooting: Perform root cause analyses and equipment performance evaluations. Develop recommendations to improve reliability, maintainability, and long-term asset performance. Support corrective actions and operating experience reviews

  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted technical advisor to nuclear utility clients. Present technical solutions and recommendations to engineering and station leadership. Participate in client meetings, field walkdowns, and site visits

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to less experienced engineers. Perform assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer on unusual or complex projects


Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience supporting power generation, utility, industrial, or nuclear electrical systems

  • Demonstrated SME-level expertise in one or more listed components

  • Experience supporting lifecycle management or reliability for electrical power components

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability/desire to obtain

  • Experience developing engineering change packages, technical evaluations, and specifications

  • Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, ANSI, and EPRI guidance

  • Experience with equipment replacement, startup testing, and commissioning activities

  • Direct involvement in equipment lifecycle activities including procurement specification development, vendor technical oversight, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation support, commissioning, startup testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment

  • Ability to travel up to 10% for client visits


Compensation Range

USD $136,000.00 - USD $204,000.00 /Yr.
