Job summary

Enercon is hiring Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineers for our Nuclear Design Group. You will develop electrical designs, collaborate across engineering teams, and mentor junior engineers.

The role supports diverse projects, including power generation and government contracts, with occasional field travel. The position requires a bachelor's in EE, 6–10+ years of experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 6 years of electrical design experience for Senior level; 10+ years for Principal level.
• Experience in power generation, nuclear power, or government (DOE) projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• Strong written/presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work as an individual contributor and in teams.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel.
• US Citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
• Approximate travel around 10%.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll collaborate with interdisciplinary partners, coordinate across engineering teams, and help drive successful project execution. Your day-to-day work may include developing design studies, preparing engineering calculations & analysis, attending project meetings, conducting field walkdowns, and mentoring junior engineers. You'll apply your expertise to challenging and meaningful projects while contributing to technical excellence and innovation.

• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Act as the bridge between engineering teams, ensuring seamless integration and coordination across all project disciplines


• Shape Project Success: Develop innovative design studies, define project scopes, and create accurate engineering estimates to drive project excellence


• Master Procurement & Installation: Draft detailed specifications for electrical equipment, evaluate technical bids, and select top-tier solutions to meet project needs


• Perform Precision Calculations: Execute essential electrical calculations that form the foundation of successful designs and installations


• Think Creatively: Bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to solve complex technical challenges and push projects forward


• Be Hands-On in the Field: Travel to project sites, conduct walkdowns, oversee installations, and support start-up activities to ensure quality and compliance


• Lead and Inspire Teams: Foster a positive, goal-oriented environment with your motivational leadership style, empowering teams to achieve success

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university


• Minimum of 6 years of experience with design of electrical systems (high voltage, switchgear, motor controls) for Senior Level, 10+ years for Principal Level


• Must have experience in power generation, nuclear power or government (DOE) projects directly or with an engineering/design consulting firm


• PE preferred


• Writing, presentation and communication skills


• Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams


• Proficient in Word and Excel


• Due to Federal Contract Requirements, US Citizenship is required


• Approximate travel of 10% as needed

Compensation Range

USD $107,200.00 - USD $192,000.00 /Yr.
