Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Principal DFM Engineer to lead design-for-manufacturability for silicone and elastomer-based products. You will own technical quoting, translate designs into scalable manufacturing solutions, and influence tooling and process strategies across the Elastomers Operation Unit.

Responsibilities include leading DFM evaluations, cost modeling for prototype to production, and cross-functional leadership to ensure manufacturability, cost, and quality across medical device

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Polymer, or similar).
  • 10+ years of experience in elastomer manufacturing, DFM or process engineering.
  • Deep expertise in silicone (LSR, HCR) and rubber materials.
  • Regulatory and customer specifications (medical preferred).
  • Experience working in cross-functional and customer-facing roles.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive DFM evaluations for elastomer components and assemblies, providing actionable recommendations to optimize manufacturability, yield, robustness, and quality.
  • Own RFQs with detailed, transparent cost models from prototype through full production.
  • Define tooling concepts, lifecycle strategies, and validate processes to improve cycle time and capacity.
  • Collaborate with Process Eng, Tooling, Quality, and Operations to validate manufacturability assumptions.
