Job summary

Ingersoll Rand seeks a Principal DFM Engineer to drive design-for-manufacturability, cost modeling, and tooling strategy for silicone elastomer products used in regulated medical devices. On-site, you will lead cross-functional RFQ activities from prototype through production and mentor engineers to elevate DFM capability.

You will own cost models, validate manufacturability, and guide process strategies across molding, extrusion, and automation, focusing on HCR/LSR and multi-shot elastomer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Polymer)
• 10+ years in elastomer manufacturing, DFM or process engineering
• Deep expertise in silicone (LSR, HCR) and rubber materials
• Experience with medical device regulatory specs (Class II/III)
• Experience with cross-functional, customer-facing roles

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive DFM evaluations for elastomer components and assemblies.
• Develop detailed, transparent cost models for prototype through production.
• Define optimal tooling approaches and lifecycle strategies.
• Collaborate with Sales, Quality, and Operations during RFQ, contract reviews and NPI.
• Mentor engineers and elevate DFM capability across the organization.
