Job Summary

The Principal Elasticsearch Systems Engineer provides support across an Agile team in a DevSecOps environment, maintaining a large enterprise Elasticsearch deployment in both AWS cloud and on‑prem. The role includes design, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and collaborates with architecture, engineering, development, and operations teams to ensure production scalability, stability, and data integrity.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain Elasticsearch clusters in a cloud-based environment across multiple availability zones.
• Ensure Elasticsearch clusters run under optimal conditions.
• Evaluate and optimize Elasticsearch clusters, including configuration parameters, indexing, search, query performance tuning, security, and administration.
• Maintain infrastructure to ensure performance and data integrity.
• Keep Elasticsearch clusters upgraded as permitted by dependent applications.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Elasticsearch Administration.
• Direct experience maintaining and integrating Elasticsearch within an operational enterprise information system.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment and tempo.
• Experience deploying and using Elasticsearch in commercial cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience. Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• TS/SCI with Poly is required for consideration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on customer systems.
• Understanding of customer system development policies.
• Additional certifications related to Elasticsearch.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $131,300.00 – $237,350.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation is based on responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable agreements. Benefits include competitive compensation, health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, and retirement plans.
