Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant in Environmental Health and Safety for the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on leading safety initiatives for top tech and manufacturing clients across multiple California locations, driving compliance and strategic EHS programs.

You will mentor consultants, manage budgets and projects, and collaborate with ERM’s global network to deliver comprehensive safety services, including audits, training, and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in safety or related field.
• 6+ years EHS experience in technology, biopharma, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
• Strong knowledge of California and federal EHS regulations.
• Ability to travel throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
• Driver's License required: travel to client locations.
• This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
• Master’s degree preferred for advancement.
• 10+ years progressive EHS experience desired.
• Certifications such as CSP or CIH are a plus.
• Experience with audits, behavior-based safety, PHA, industrial hygiene, and safety process improvement.
• Familiarity with robotics safety, NFPA 70E, machine guarding, radiation safety, and EHS design concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovative safety programs for local and global clients across EHS domains.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, and industrial hygiene evaluations.
• Provide training and coaching to improve client safety performance.
• Analyze data and deliver actionable insights to reduce hazards and ensure compliance.
• Build strong client relationships and contribute to business growth.
• Collaborate with ERM’s global network to solve multidisciplinary challenges.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities through client relationships and proposals.
• Design and lead large-scale programs and multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Deliver ERM’s full spectrum of safety consulting services, including audits and risk management.
