Job Description

The Core Engineering Platform (CEP) organization provides a foundational platform ecosystem with capabilities that empower end users and digital product teams to innovate and drive growth for Allstate through the Consumer Connected Cloud mission. This ecosystem aims to provide an frictionless experience for our user community.

Principal Digital Product Manager – Hosting Product Group: You will own the vision and roadmap for cloud products, compute & storage products, and mainframe products. You define strategy and annual commitments while ensuring products iteratively deliver business value and align with customer needs. You are accountable for consistent application of product practices, including ways of working, behaviors, product mindset, and work breakdown. This role ensures processes and experiences are ready for the digital future-state and collaborates with stakeholders to drive elimination, optimization, and reengineering solutions. A deep understanding of technology, user experience, and data-driven decision-making is essential to drive digital transformation and exceptional user experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Product Strategy: Own the strategic direction of your area of responsibility (approximately 20 products across cloud, compute & storage, and mainframe), ensuring alignment to priority outcomes. Develop and manage a strategic roadmap.
  • Market Research: Conduct market and user research to identify trends and customer needs, connect emerging tech and market trends to influence strategy and create value.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform architectural decisions, support solution design, and choose the best path forward. Drive delivery acceleration through reuse of capabilities and simpler, smarter ways to achieve outcomes.
  • Roadmap Management and Alignment: Align strategic intent and priorities across teams and areas; influence digital product strategy and backlogs in support of priorities.
  • Performance Monitoring: Define intended outcomes and ensure product KPIs converge toward the desired results.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate product progress to internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring appropriate prioritization and coordination.
  • Vendor Management: Engage in strategic vendor management with external vendors and internal sourcing leaders.
  • Budget Management: Forecast total cost of ownership, manage budgets (vendor contracts, hardware, labor, etc.), and implement strategies to optimize operations.
  • Advance Product Management Trade: Mature Digital Product Management practices, rituals, and behaviors to grow product mindset and improve team capabilities.
  • Grow Talent: Foster and evangelize the Product Management community to recruit, attract, and develop talent, including succession planning for Lead DPMs.
  • Influence Operating Model: Drive product-centric thinking and optimize ways of working across the enterprise technology organization.
Essential Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting product scoping, discovery, framing, and backlog ownership for digital products.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience coaching and leading global teams.
  • Demonstrated experience applying Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) in a product delivery environment and using product management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Aha!, or similar to manage requirements, backlogs, roadmaps, and delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software development lifecycles, human-centered design principles, UX/UI design practices, and digital marketing concepts, evidenced through delivery of digital products, features, campaigns, or customer experience improvements.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, using insights, metrics, and customer feedback to inform product decisions, prioritization, and performance optimization.
Desirable Skills
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or influencing product strategy for enterprise infrastructure platforms, including cloud, compute, storage, and hosting.
  • Strong understanding of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and the operational capabilities required for enterprise-scale adoption.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation practices using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, GitOps, or similar.
  • Direct experience with Linux (RHEL), Windows, compute, storage, database, or mainframe platforms.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 187,500.00 - 258,375.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
