Job summary

Fidelity Investments Inc. seeks a Principal Digital Assets Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure using Amazon EKS, AWS Cloud Services, and Terraform (IaC) within a financial services context.

The role provides technical leadership for multi-region Kubernetes deployments, Helm/Jenkins pipelines, Datadog observability, and secure, automated cloud delivery in a predominantly onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available multi-region Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS.
• Proficiency with Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins Core.
• Strong observability focus with Datadog dashboards and alerts.

Responsibilities

• Participates in architecture design with engineering partners to drive initiatives from design to implementation.

Position Description:

Designs highly available, secure, scalable multi-region microservices-based solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS). Builds secure/hardened multi-layer Linux-based Docker images supporting engineering partner needs. On-boards containerized applications and resources to Kubernetes using custom-built Helm Charts and libraries. Maintains production and non-production Kubernetes Clusters on AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). Provides technical leadership to teams and production on-call support for EKS workloads. Promotes a DevOps mentality, provides mentorship, and establishes development standard methodologies for AWS Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Assists engineering partners with on-boarding of new Kafka/Confluent solutions. Crafts and deploys applications to the cloud using Jenkins pipelines and automation. Troubleshoots Linux-based operating systems issues efficiently. Develops Python scripts, tools, and utilities using latest techniques and best-practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participates in architecture design teams; works closely with engineering partners to help enable and drive initiatives from design to implementation.

• Develops observability solutions -- dashboards, alerts, and synthetics.

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

• Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

• Acts as a primary liaison for business unit product area(s) to resolve various project/technology issues.

• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

• Mentors junior team members.

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

• Communicates complex subject-matter clearly and with various audiences.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Digital Assets Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure solutions using Amazon EKS, AWS Cloud Services, and Terraform (IaC) within a financial services industry.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Digital Assets Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure solutions using Amazon EKS, AWS Cloud Services, and Terraform (IaC) within a financial services industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, implementing, and supporting highly available multi-region Kubernetes clusters for mission‑critical financial systems on Amazon EKS; deploying applications and upgrades to clusters using Helm and Jenkins Core Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines; and integrating Datadog logging, Datadog synthetics, and Datadog dashboards, to preempt or surface issues to on‑call.

• DE designing, implementing, and automating deployment of advanced multi-region EKS‑based cloud solutions on AWS; performing cluster upgrades of production systems to maintain production systems with zero downtime using Terraform; configuring and maintaining Aurora Postgres clusters in multi‑region cloud deployments using Terraform; and troubleshooting, networking, and debugging systems using Linux (Debian, Alpine, and Ubuntu).

• DE performing automation, tooling, and integration functions to support SRE use‑cases using Git, Python, Bash shell scripting, and boto3; and performing source‑code management and review to resolve Git merge conflicts, execute the pull‑request process, and implement secure‑code practices using Git and secure‑development tools.

• DE performing source‑code development tasks to execute version control operations using Git command‑line tools; performing coding in Python language using boto3 in a Linux‑based environment; and performing bash shell scripting for automation of tasks in Linux environments.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full‑time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles.
