Job summary

IDEXX is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer II to own and optimize VetConnect PLUS infrastructure on AWS and GCP, pipelines with GitHub Actions, and Datadog observability. You’ll mentor engineers, drive technical decisions, and lead a DevOps squad across Diagnostic Software Engineering teams.

You will balance cost with requirements, build scalable deployment pipelines, and promote reliable, incremental delivery in a hybrid on-site/remote environment near our MA/NH/ME footprint.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and executing deployments with minimal outages.
• Experience building and configuring full application stacks (Java Spring).
• Coding or scripting proficiency across multiple languages.
• Proven ability to re‑engineer and simplify complex systems.
• Strong collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Preferred Linux/Unix administration background.
• Ability to balance cost with performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software teams to deploy and operate systems.
• Lead DXSE DevOps Squad and influence architectural decisions.
• Own automation, monitoring, and deployment tooling.
• Develop repeatable deployment templates for various services.
• Troubleshoot issues across dev, test, and production environments.
• Promote frequent, incremental code testing and deployment.
