Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to own platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and software deployment strategies across cloud, on-premise, and manufacturing environments.

You will lead IaC, GitOps, and security-integrated CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with software, IT, and cybersecurity teams to drive high-availability, rapid recovery, and scalable operations in a defense-focused setting.

Qualifications

8+ years in DevOps, SRE or infrastructure/platform engineering with principal-level leadership.
Hands-on mastery of Azure GovCloud and/or AWS GovCloud environments, with VPC, IAM and security controls.
Advanced proficiency in Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux).
Experience designing HA systems, DR solutions, and telemetry (Prometheus/Grafana).
Experience automating container/code and secret management (Vault, Key Vault).
Experience delivering hosted AI model integrations within production CI/CD pipelines.
Proactive problem solver who builds trust and enables business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Lead research, design, and continuous improvement of platform infra and developer experience (DX).
Decompose complex infra problems into maintainable systems and author design documents.
Unify tooling between Software Engineering, IT, and Networking to remove silos.
Own DR/BC architecture and automated backups with minutes-scale recovery.
