Principal, Development Engineer - Energy Savings

Location
This is a remote position based in Western Tennessee/Nashville area, with up to 40% travel in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, & Indiana. Candidates must reside in Western Tennessee to support site visits and travel expectations. Occasional travel to Constellation offices will also be required.

Primary Purpose of Position
Leads identification and development of energy services and asset projects in Commercial, Industrial, and Federal sectors. Provides technical and financial analysis, evaluates energy savings, supports sales and bid processes, and acts as a liaison between sales and project management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy audits, prepare proposals, analyze costs and savings.
  • Develop preliminary designs and estimates, provide technical recommendations.
  • Support sales in developing and presenting proposals.
  • Report project status and performance.
  • Coordinate project handovers and ensure adherence to cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Promote safety and safe work behaviors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience in energy conservation projects.
  • Ability to develop complex energy projects, with knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and process systems.
  • Experience with project commissioning, proposals, vendor agreements, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of federal energy programs, measurement & verification, and customer presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project databases. Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE registration, CEM, or LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Experience with energy modeling software, renewable energy projects, and in-field construction.
  • Understanding of building electrification strategies.
