US-based | remote (NY or SF ideal)
Most developer advocate roles give you a patch of an established community.
This one gives you the opportunity to help build it.
We’re working with a European AI cloud provider expanding its inference platform in the US. The infrastructure is in place, the inference offering is growing, and the team needs someone who can help developers discover what they can build with it.
You’ll be their technical voice in the US.
That means knowing where the interesting work is happening, getting into those rooms and giving developers a reason to listen when you get there.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll decide where the business shows up across the US—conferences, meetups, hackathons, universities and the smaller events where the right conversations happen.
- You might host a workshop one week, publish an inference benchmark the next, then sit down with a group of developers to understand what’s making their lives difficult.
- You’ll build relationships with people working on open-weight models, inference tools and AI products. And you’ll take what you hear straight back to the product and engineering teams.
- You’ll also work alongside an existing developer advocate and the wider AI Lab to help developers get hands‑on with new models as they launch. The marketing team will support you with events and logistics, giving you the space to focus on the technical work and the relationships.
- This is a senior individual contributor role with plenty of ownership. You won’t need a team around you on day one, but you will help shape how the US developer function grows.
Why this role?
- You’ll be joining a European AI cloud provider as it builds out its inference offering and grows internationally.
- You’ll have direct access to the people building the technology, the freedom to decide where to spend your time and the opportunity to shape how an entire market experiences the platform.
- If you’re a developer advocate, engineer or technical educator who enjoys being hands‑on and being out in the community, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll need
- You’ve worked with inference yourself. You can run a model, understand the trade‑offs and have a useful conversation about latency, throughput, quantisation and cost.
- You enjoy explaining what you’ve learned - whether that’s through a workshop, a technical article, a demo or a conversation at an event.
- You’re active in the AI developer ecosystem and can point to the communities you’ve contributed to, the events you’ve been part of and the relationships you’ve built. A large following isn’t essential. Credibility is.
- You’re also interested in how developers and businesses actually use AI: what they’re building, what makes an inference platform worth using and how a good developer experience leads to adoption.
- Experience with tools such as vLLM, SGLang or similar open‑source serving projects would be valuable.
