Job summary

Pocket is seeking a Principal Designer to be the highest individual contributor in design, yet a leader across teams. You will define taste, set the direction across hardware, software, brand, and the design system, and partner directly with the CDO. This is a rare opportunity to shape AI hardware design and the future of Pocket.

You'll mentor designers, engineers, and specialists on complex projects, own schedules, and drive cohesive visual identity. Equity and executive visibility await.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing complex, multi-surface products.
• Fascination with AI and daily engagement with it.
• Top-tier design training with a strong portfolio.
• Excellent communication and the ability to write clearly without AI.
• Able to draw to communicate ideas under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Define design direction across hardware, software, brand, and design system.
• Lead designers, engineers, and specialists on complex projects.
• Own end-to-end design across any product surface.
• Set new design trends and evangelize design at Pocket.
• Collaborate with the CDO and assist in hiring top designers.
